چکیده

This paper characterizes the speed-independence of high-level designs. The characterization is a condition on the design description ensuring that the behavior of the design is independent of the speeds of its components. The behavior of a circuit is modeled as a transition system, that allows data types, and internal as well as external non-determinism. This makes it possible to verify the speed-independence of a design without providing an explicit realization of the environment. The veriication can be done mechanically. A number of experimental designs have been veriied, including a speed-independent RAM, a complex switch of a data path, various Muller C-elements, FIFO registers , and counters.

Checking Speed-independence. A Case Study in Verifying Safety Properties with a Theorem Prover

This paper describes how to use a theorem prover, the LARCH PROVER, to check safety properties of a high-level circuit specification. As an example of safety property we consider speed-independence of a design. A circuit is defined to be speed-independent if its correct operation does not depend on the delays of its components. The behavior of a circuit is modeled as a transition system in the ...

Design of a low power high speed 4-2 compressor using CNTFET 32nm technology for parallel multipliers

In this article a low power and low latency 4-2 compressor has been presented. By using modified truth table and Pass Transistor Logic (PTL) a novel structure has been proposed which outperforms previous designs from the frequency of operation view point. The proposed design method has reduced the total transistor count considerably which will lead to reduced power consumption and smaller activ...

A High-Speed Dual-Bit Parallel Adder based on Carbon Nanotube ‎FET technology for use in arithmetic units

In this paper, a Dual-Bit Parallel Adder (DBPA) based on minority function using Carbon-Nanotube Field-Effect Transistor (CNFET) is proposed. The possibility of having several threshold voltage (Vt) levels by CNFETs leading to wide use of them in designing of digital circuits. The main goal of designing proposed DBPA is to reduce critical path delay in adder circuits. The proposed design positi...

High-coverage ATPG for datapath circuits with unimplemented blocks

Conventional ATPG cannot effectively handle designs employing IP circuits (cores) whose implementation details are either unknown, unavailable, or subject to change. A new ATPG program RIBTEC for such designs is described that employs a functional (behavioral) fault model based on a class of non-exhaustive “universal” test sets. Given a circuit’s high-level block structure, RIBTEC constructs a ...
